Calling all water-loving women of South Florida!
Come join us for a SoFlo Mermaids Meetup at the beautiful Blue Heron Bridge in Phil Foster Park — one of the top snorkeling and freediving spots in Florida. Whether you’re an experienced freediver or just starting out with snorkeling, this is your chance to connect with like-minded women, explore the ocean, and build lasting dive buddy friendships.
In a male-dominated industry, our mission is to foster friendships, create dive buddy connections, and empower women to DIVE TOGETHER.
All levels are welcome — the only requirement is that you’re comfortable in water too deep to stand and have at least basic snorkeling skills.
We now offer both morning and afternoon meetups so you can choose the time that best fits your schedule.

What to Expect:
-
Meet & Greet: Start the session by connecting with other ocean-loving women while we check you in.
-
Site Briefing: We’ll provide navigation tips, safety reminders, and help to facilitate buddy teams.
-
Ocean Exploration: Snorkel and freedive at your own pace around Blue Heron Bridge’s vibrant reef and marine life. (Dive flag required if exploring beyond the snorkel trail.)
-
Post-Dive Connection: After we get salty together, we’ll regroup on the beach for a light picnic. Drinks and snacks will be provided, and you’re welcome to bring treats to share with your new mermaid friends!

Cost:
💙 $10 per person
This covers administrative costs and helps us keep the community growing.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. Please bring your own mask, snorkel, fins, and exposure protection (like a rash guard or wetsuit). Fins are especially important at Blue Heron Bridge since currents can be strong — they’ll help keep you safe and make the experience much more enjoyable.
-
For safety reasons and respect of others in the group, participants do need to be comfortable snorkeling before joining a meetup. That said, we’re professional freediving instructors and snorkel guides and would be happy to work with you outside of the meetup to build your confidence. Once you’re ready, you’ll be more than welcome to join the group!
-
Absolutely! Most participants arrive solo, and these meetups are designed to help you meet new dive buddies. We’ll pair you up so you feel supported and part of the group from the start.
-
Weekends at Blue Heron Bridge can be hectic — crowded parking lots, busy waters, and less space to enjoy. As full-time dive professionals, weekends are also when we’re teaching and guiding. Hosting meetups during the week keeps the atmosphere calm, safe, and community-focused.
-
We plan meetups around high tide, which brings the best visibility and calmest conditions at Blue Heron Bridge. Early morning and late afternoon sessions also fit more easily around work schedules, making it convenient to join before or after your day.
-
These meetups are designed as adult-only gatherings. Most participants fall between ages 25–45, and we’ve found the experience flows best when everyone shares similar energy and focus. This way, you can fully relax, connect, and enjoy quality time with fellow ocean-loving women.
-
Safety always comes first. Water activities will not go out in dangerous conditions such as lightning, high winds, or unsafe seas. If it’s just rain, the meetup will still go ahead (after all, you’ll be getting wet anyway!). Will wait until close to the time of the meet up to make the call since weather moves so quickly in South Florida. Activities may be delayed while waiting for weather to pass. If conditions require us to cancel, we’ll notify you by email or text and provide a credit toward the next meetup.
-
Only if you plan to explore beyond the marked snorkel trail. Many participants stay within the trail, but a flag is required if you’d like to venture further.
-
We cap attendance at around 30 participants. This size keeps things welcoming and fun while still giving you plenty of opportunities to connect with new people.
-
Conditions at Blue Heron Bridge are most reliable during the spring and summer months. Fall often brings hurricanes and jellyfish, while winter can mean cooler water and unpredictable visibility. To make the meetups as safe and enjoyable as possible, we focus on the best seasons. Occasionally, we’ll host special pop-up events throughout the year to keep the community connected.
