The PADI Mermaid Instructor training is a 2-day program that will teach you how to instruct all levels of the PADI Mermaid courses, including Discover Mermaid, Basic Mermaid, Mermaid, and Advanced Mermaid.
Prerequisites:
- 18 years old
- Certified as a PADI Advanced Mermaid OR have a qualifying certification
- Completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within the last 24 months
- Current medical statement signed by a physician within the previous 12 months

Training Requirements:
- Successfully complete Mermaid Instructor Exam with a passing score of at least 75 percent.
- Complete all Water-skills Workshops
- Demonstrate all Mermaid Skills at Role Model level
- Demonstrate two complete teaching presentations of at least two skills from the PADI Mermaid program
Required Swim Ability:
- Swim at least 400m without swim aids or floatation devices, and 800m with mask, snorkel and fins.
- Back float, tread, or bob on the water’s surface at least 10 minutes without aids.
- The ability to submerge and swim under water, without a mask, without distress.

At Live Free Diving, we’re dedicated to the highest quality courses, with a low student-to-instructor ratio for a safe, enriching and personalized learning experience. Because of the planning, logistics and small class sizes involved, all deposits are non-refundable.
Cancellation & rescheduling
- 30+ days’ notice: reschedule to another scheduled course date at no additional cost.
- 14–29 days’ notice: reschedule for a $150 administration fee.
- Less than 14 days’ notice: reschedule for a $300 administration fee.
- No-shows: not eligible for any refund or course credit.
Private courses
Private courses require us to reserve specific dates, which limits availability for other students.
- 14+ days’ notice: reschedule for a $250 administration fee.
- Less than 14 days’ notice: reschedule for an administration fee of 25% of the total course cost.
A minimum $500 deposit is required to secure your place, with the remaining balance due 14 days before the course starts unless otherwise discussed. Your card on file will be charged the remaining balance automatically.
