Want to level up your freediving in clear, blue water with depth as far as your mind can imagine? Our open water training sessions are designed for certified freedivers who want the benefits of focused line diving without the stress of crowded dive boats. Now offering bonus reef and wreck dives!

Each session includes:
- Private Boat Access: You’ll train aboard Apnea, our spacious 29’ Cobia specially equipped for freediving. With cushioned seating, shade, ample storage, cooler space for refreshments, and a U.S. Coast Guard certified captain on board at all times, you’ll have both comfort and safety covered.
- In-Water Instructors: Our freediving instructors set up your float and line, adjust the depth to match your training goals each dive, and most importantly provide direct safety supervision.
- Flexible Add-Ons: Private coaching (+$50) and GoPro photos/videos (+$50) can be added so you leave with new skills and incredible memories. Rental gear also available.
- Adventure Options: The people have spoken and we listened! These ocean sessions now include stops at stunning reefs and shipwrecks for exploration beyond the line.
- Save by Purchasing a Membership: Ready for multiple sessions? Our new Deep Dive Pass helps you save when booking multiple sessions!

When We Train
Training is typically offered when weather and schedules permit, with the most consistent conditions from May through September. Off-season (October–April) sessions are offered as “pop-ups” when the forecast is favorable—follow us on social media or join our WhatsApp group to hear about them first.
Each session lasts about four hours, with approximately two hours in the water training and one hour of recreational freediving and wildlife viewing. Plenty of time for warm-ups, work-up dives, technique-focused training, and some fun!

Important Notes
- All participants must hold at least a Level 1 Freediver certification (or equivalent).
- For safety, dives are limited to the maximum depth of your certification.
- Minimum of 4 divers required to run a group trip. Whole-boat private sessions available for up to 6 guests.

-
Our open water training sessions typically take place about three miles offshore, in the Gulf Stream, where the water is at its bluest and calmest — ideal for freediving practice. Out there, we train in deep blue water without the ocean floor in sight, away from boat traffic and crowds. Most days, it’s just us and the open sea — but every now and then, we’re joined by curious sharks, baby turtles, schools of fish, or even a passing sailfish!
-
Here’s the options:
- Those who’ve taken a course through Live Free Diving in the past year simply just need to pay boat fee of $150
- Those not trained through LFD (referrals) require an extra certification fee and time expense to obtain the referral paperwork and process the certification which are incurred by LFD. The total cost for a referral make up session is $300 (includes boat fee, instruction, certification fee).
