Lake Denton is a Spring Fed lake near Sebring Florida.

Lakes in Florida are commonly associated with brown water, alligators, snakes and mosquitos, but this is not the case at Lake Denton! The waters of Lake Denton are deeper and much more clear compared to most lakes, making it very conducive to diving and dive training!

Depth
Depths reach 50 Feet in the center of the lake. Depths generally slope in a bowl shape with shallow waters near shore, reaching deeper in the center. See map below for detail imagery of the lakes depth. Note that water levels fluctuate based on Rainfall

Openness
Lake Denton is 60+ acres in size, offering plenty of open space for diving. The bottom is mostly sand and grass, though some underwater features such as a sunken boat, sculptures, and directional lines for SCUBA divers have been sunk. A small airplane and shipping container were sunk in the Lake in 2020, but were removed shortly after.

Clarity
Visibility at Lake Denton fluctuates between 15-30 feet based on rainfall and other factors.

Accessibility & Traffic
Lake Denton offers ample parking, restroom facilities and rinse stations. It is an easy entry shore dive.
This location is heavily used by SCUBA divers, however there is ample parking and plenty of room in the lake (60+acres) to spread out, so you never feel cramped.
Divers are required to pay $20 cash or check via a dropbox.
Marine Life & Elements
Divers often bring fish food, thus there are some friendly Bass, Blue Gill and Turtles. We have made many trips to Lake Denton and have yet to encounter and alligators or snakes.
There is no current and minimal to no waves at Lake Denton. You may encounter some boat traffic, so remember to bring a flag.

Overall
Lake Denton is a great place for freedive training/learning that is accessible year round. Live Free Diving utilizes Lake Denton as a backup location for Freediving courses when ocean conditions are too rough. After visiting Lake Denton, check out nearby Highlands Hammock State Park.
